Has God ever told you to do something that you immediately thought Lord, I can’t do that! You must have the wrong person. There is no way I am capable of doing what you are asking me to do?!

We doubt God and His ultimate power and question the very one who created us. God knows us at the deepest level. Sometimes even better than we know ourselves! After all, He created everything about us from our heart to the amount of hair on our head (I don’t know about you but I don’t have the patience to count every hair!), but He knows because He formed every part of you down to the smallest atom.

Sometimes, we can’t wrap our heads around exactly how big God is and we try to put Him in a box. (Side note- I grew up in an independent Baptist church. This specific church had a lot of members who were very legalistic in their thinking about God. I grew up thinking that was normal and thought I was saved at the age of 8. I did it because I thought, well sure, I need to do this because everyone else is. I truly didn’t find My Jesus till last year at the age of 38, even after being in church my whole life!).

The legalistic viewpoint of a lot of churches has put a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths. It’s really sad honestly. Think about how many people (like myself), grew up in church and thought they were saved only to realize they weren’t! Or maybe they don’t realize it and they think everything is great, when in reality it’s not.

When I accepted Jesus last year, my life completely changed. It was a true conversion. Not one that I felt obligated to do certain things for. A true conversion of seeking him in all things, deep diving into scriptures and studies because I “craved” time with my Lord! I pray constantly, even when my anxiety tries to get the best of me (I am on strong anxiety meds, but thankfully I have been able to reduce my use to almost none! Praise God!).

It has to do with being dependent on him and reaching out to him when the ugly anxiety cloud looms over me and I feel like the walls are caving in. I immediately stop and pray. I tell him how I feel. He wants that natural part of ourselves. He already knows what we are thinking but he wants us to be “honest” and tell him.

You might be thinking “Um, I can’t be honest because he would disown me if I said that to him.” No friend. Once you belong to Jesus, there is no disowning you. He is with you through the thick and thin. He knows your thoughts and the deepest part of your hearts. Just say it. Real honesty is what God wants. Not a sugar coated “pretty” little prayer. The raw, ugly, unfiltered you. All of you, every last thought or feeling. He cares for you and every aspect of what you feel.

1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because HE cares for you.”

I was doing my devotions recently. I was reading in exodus about the story of Moses. Moses was slow of speech (many scholars aren’t sure if that means he stuttered or if he had a hard time speaking at all). God reached out to Moses to fulfill a prophecy in regard to confronting Pharaoh the king of Egypt and demanding that he let the children of Israel go. The children of Israel were pharaohs slaves but God had other plans for them. They were HIS people and he had other plans for them (no, we cannot thwart Gods plans no matter what we think is best or by our actions. His plan will always come to fruition even if we try to derail it).

Moses argued with God when God told him to go to pharaoh and demand that he let the children of Israel go. (Exodus chapter 4 – 6 is the whole conversation of him questioning God and what God was asking him to do). Think about that, he was questioning the very one who made him and controls everything and God was personally talking to him and telling him what he needed to do but nope, insert our stupid human nature into the picture and bam! God was patient with Moses though, He could have said, “yeah, this guy isn’t going to work for me and killed him instantly for even questioning Him. But God in His mercy and goodness was patient and talked him through his anxieties and fears, even after Moses questioned God several times ( I don’t know about you, but if someone questions me several times after I have constantly repeated myself, I get really annoyed).

That’s just God though! He knows us down to every anxiety, fear, worry, and stressor. He already has your plan in motion and NOTHING can mess it up! Praise the Lord! His mercy towards me and you is new every morning.

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness!”. Lamentations 3:22-23

In conclusion, thank Jesus everyday for never giving up on us or disowning us because we royally screw up daily. We do not deserve His patience with us, and yet, He freely gives it unlimitedly. Nothing you do can mess up what God has planned for you. Praise him today and thank him for his great patience and mercy over your faults. His mercy and love is so vast, we cannot comprehend it. Remember, He is with you in ALL things. 😊

Psalm 145:8: “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.”
